CTZ, Equinox, Amarillo, Simcoe would be my other hops on the American hit-list for this year, with Galaxy and Nelson from Oz.

Amarillo and Simcoe for me too, please.

This has been a best kept secret, and its big news.

Hambleton Bard are here in Galway tonight with a new S30 stainless steel kegging system. Its a big deal for us, because they have chosen Galway for their worldwide launch of this remarkable new alternative to the well known corny keg. Its instore here at HBW tomorrow (21st Nov 15) along with lots of other new HB products. Openday from 11.00 to 5.30. Get here!

So what's new? Essentially:
- there is a cost effective counter tap dispensing extra (think bar tap),
- it works with S30 gas cylinders and also 8gm cartridges, and
- it comes with a pressure guage.

No pressure regulators, you have to inject gas on demand. The upside is that there are no more worries about CO2 supplies, and no worries about high pressure gas systems in the house. We already offer 8g cartridges, but we also offer the 240g S30 cylinders and an online refill service.

At the moment, we only offer single S30 cylinder refills but we will shortly offer multiple refills cutting down on the shipping costs.

This mean that you should finally be able to get CO2 online at great prices, regardless of where you live in Ireland.

Sorry if its all a big vague; although they are in Galway, we haven't seen them yet ourselves! After the launch, we will put all the info we have online.

Yep am curious so post pics and info especially cost when you get more detail, I know sourcing CO2 outside the major cities has been a PITA for many.

No, afraid not. You'd need to be able to fit the S30 cylinder to a regulator, but a solution doesn't exist yet. That's not to say it won't exist in a few months. HB are investing a fortune in S30 solutions.

The new S30 stainless keg is impressive and holds 23 litres of beer. And the tap is just sooo cool.

But its not cheap. RRPs are as follows:
- 175 euros for the keg, and
- 175 euros for the tap.
Unfortunately, even wholesalers like our good selves have very little flexibility on them. If there was a demand, I'd look at getting hundreds of them and maybe getting a special price. I know this will happen next year because of other add ons we can't reveal just yet!

The tap is very cool, it has a foot square (approx) shiny SS base and a foot high (approx) tower but won't fit a corny . . . . the ball lock connector is slightly different. But that's easy to change over.

HBC are still selling v cheap second hand cornies, so until they run out, this may be for those who don't have access to cheap CO2. They also work with 8gm cartridges, and the new injectors have an SS insert so they don't wear out.

price is a bit steep for me as iv been setting up with cornies , hopefully they come out with an adaptor of some sort to help with mobility ,and yes for us out in the sticks buying s30 cylinders online would be the job

Is the HB S30 same thread as a Sodastream bottle because there are adapters available for those ? :)

No!

The soda stream is a square thread and the S30 is a conventioanl V style. Not sure if its 55 or 60 degrees so. Any machine shop with cnc facilities could knock these out in brass fairly cheaply. I could probably make one in a day but at €50 and hour it would be expensive!

We've been looking for top quality swing top bottles for a long time and have finally found a solution:
http://www.homebrewwest.ie/bottles-swing-tops-bag-in-box-bib-vinotainers-112-c.asp
at great prices, but only if we can order a full 40 ft container of them.

Check the Kilner prices and the bottle specs, and let us know what you think.

You can also buy them as ordinary glass bottles that you can crown cap, and still upgrade to swing tops later. The only issue is that you would need a quality capper to cap them or else use the Kilner capper. If you already own a quality bench capper (not the cheapo one), this is defo a cool option.

Speaking of cappers. Will the countertop capper be in stock soon?

Just a heads up for NHC members: we've sold almost a thousand of these bottle since we first posted about them so they are running out fast. We only got a couple of pallets of them initially, with a container due in Jan.

As the MJ distribution agents in Ireland, we are delighted to bring you the complete range of these new yeasts at the correct RRPs. Apologies for the delay, we didn't want to jump the gun and waited until we could offer the entire range:
http://www.homebrewwest.ie/mangrove-jacks-craft-series-yeasts-404-c.asp

Except for a few on display in the shop, they are all going into cold storage at 5 oC. Storage and usage instructions available here:

They offer the first viable alternative to liquid yeasts. In addition we have added proper selection charts by beer style and also be yeast characteristics:
