2017 Oatmeal Stout (cat 16B) Gold Medal

Pale malt                5kg
Flaked oats         620gr
Crystal malt 80L  410gr
Chocolate malt    310gr
Roast barley        250gr
Crystal malt 40L  100gr
Fugggle Hop          42gr boil 60min
Fuggle                   25gr boil 30min
Fuggle                   20gr boil 5min
gervin ale yeast gv-12

Bestmalz Pale malt
Weyermann specialty malts
organic Oats from Aldi


If it's not a secret what's mash and fermentation temperature's?


No secrets here , I did a step mash starting at 50 degree ramped up to 69 deg and then mash out at  75. Fermentation temp was18 degrees for a week then droped to 12 degree. Hope this helps

Out of interest, how many other beers did this beat to win gold?


I don't have the numbers but the Stout category is one of the more popular categories (probably third after Pales and IPAs) so I'd say it'd be a lot

Just so you know, this beer won 3rd in the BOS in 2017. I brewed this with the original brewer and it was lovely.
