I won this is a raffle, courtesy of GetErBrewed.com (thanks!), and it arrived on November 22, 2013. It arrived in a 20L drum, with a big GetErBrewed logo sticker. Nice touch, branding is important.

As I want to turn it all into cider I only tasted a small glass of the juice. The first thing I've noticed is it's very dark, with a caramel redness to it. It actually looks like London Pride or a similar bitter. I'm sure why it's this colour. My own squeezed apples from local trees produced quite a light juice; the juice from Tipperary is darker than mine, and probably about halfway to this.

The juice tastes great. Not as mad sweet as my own, but a thicker sort of (again to use the word) caramel type sweetness. It's 50/50 Michelin and Dabinett.

It's showing 11.2 brix or about 5.9% abv when it's done. I pitched Notty, and let it ferment out to zero. As this is pasteurised already there should be no risk of wild yeasts taking over.

Currently it's force carbing in a corny.

I want a glass of apple juice now ;D

How long do you think it'll take to condition?
