Recently got 25kg of Viking Pale malt free with the mill but I've not seen any proper review or feedback on the pale malt. Plenty on the pilsner. Anyone use it yet or have any positive/negative reviews on it?
Cheers.

You will need to get Google translate on the case but there are some reviews here -https://www.facebook.com/pg/SlodowniaStrzegom/reviews/

A little more info on Viking Malt themselves is here - http://knudsenbeverageconsulting.com/colorado-malting-company-enters-european-markets-in-collaboration-with-viking-malt

Other than that there doesn't seem to be a lot out there.

Lots of Polish homebrewers were using Strzegom malt and heard no complaints.
However Strzegom was recently bought by Viking and the question is if your malt comes from Poland or Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania...
Give it a go and tell us what you think.

Thanks lads, yeah I'm getting a brew on this weekend so will let you know how it goes.

Hi garciaBernal, I'm in the same boat as you - went for the Viking Pale malt with the mill (which arrived yesterday  :) ).  I had a complete blank on this until I saw your post, but HBW did a trial of the Viking Pilsner Malt and Pale Ale Malt towards the end of 2015 and I availed of both.

I was pretty new to brewing at the time, but I remember myself and one or two of the lads in GCB getting really low OG readings on the Viking Pale Ale Malt.  With 5kg, I ended up with a beer that was somewhere in the 3.5 - 3.8% region.  However, it was a gorgeous, sessionable IPA that went down well with the group and one that I said I would revisit.  Looks like I'll be revisiting it a lot in the coming weeks/months  :D.  Be interested to hear if you find the same.  Will be a couple of weeks before I get to try it.

Thanks for the heads up.
I know you were pretty new but did yourself and the lads figure out how much efficiency you were losing by using this malt at the time?

Ironically, I think it was because of that brew that I learned about efficiency.  When I brought that beer to our meet, I was asked the question and was clueless, so that's probably the last brew where I didn't know the efficiency.  Not sure if any of the others would have a record.

For what it's worth, I brewed with the Viking Pale yesterday. OG was 1.046 with an efficiency of 85%. Look's like a summers worth of sessionable beers.

Thanks for the feedback. I've 25kg of this to get through so it's nice to have some real world numbers

I've brewed with this twice now and hit my usual numbers with it. An IPA made with it got a pretty swift death so I have no complaints with this malt at all.
