Just a quick post to announce that we are going to host our first ever homebrew competition in Derry on Saturday 4th November. Given the time of year, autumnal red beers are always in fashion so we are going to look for the best red beer in Ireland. All styles are allowed and beers will be judged to BJCP standard.
When: Saturday Nov 4th
Where: Walled City Brewery, Derry
What: Red beer - any style accepted as long as it's red. Judges will be given discretion to downgrade beers which are not red (roughly 20-30 SRM).
Registration, prizes, collection dates, max number of entries etc will all be posted up later.
Wahay, an event I might actually be able to judge at, without an 8 hour round trip!
Bring it.

phoenix is busy at the mo but asked me to state his interest for judging
Great job. Tom is the only local with BJCP training so any judges who fancy travelling up would be appreciated.
I can handle it! It's only, what, 50 entries?

Is there BJCP categories this beer has to fall into or can any beer be entered as long as its red? Including Fruit and spice additions to the beer?
As previous posts declare as long as it's red so anything goes...

Very good, I presume for judging then you just provide the details of what base style you made and any fermenter additions.
