Come on guys.
Christmas and New Year's was like ages ago.
I reckon it's time for a meetup this month.
I know some have been busy brewing up a storm and the Nationals are approaching.
Thursday's in Northern Lights seems to the convention.
So I'm suggesting the 18th or 25th but I'm not stuck on a particular date. 8)
Who's with me?!
Kilian.
I should be good for either of those dates
Should be able to make both dates, but as usual after footy around 9-9:30.
Both dates suit me too
You know I'll call dryanuary a taxi for a club meet. Awkward working hours... but I'll tryanuary.
Nice one Killian!
I'm free most Thursdays now, I think. The nativity plays and school choir & Christmas concerts have slowed down a little.
Cheers,
-Barry
Both dates okay for me :)
I could do either but as usual I'm working the next day. So it'll be nanny state or Designated Diver by Yellowbelly for me.
Either is good for me!
Are we confirmed for 18th or 25th. Might be a chance to get some new shoes from the forum to the meet. I for one am sick of looking at some of you.
Have we decided on a date yet?
The plan is 18th.
Just waiting on Northern Lights to confirm I believe.
So the list of attendees is?
Full Details:
January MeetUp
When: Thursday 18th January
Where: Northern Lights
Time: From 20:00 onwards
If this is your first time you will be able to spot members by their green Belfast Homebrewers T-Shirts and are normally seated in the big middle table or the back table in Northern Lights.
If you know anyone who is interested in Homebrewing then bring them along!
Bringing your own brew is definitely encouraged but far from essential.
Have I missed anything?

Folks. Just a reminder that this is happening at 8pm tonight in Northern Lights, Belfast.
Be there, or be a 2-dimensional polygon comprising 4 straight sides, all of equal length and all at right angles to each other (clue: NOT a pentagon).

Square?

Square?
Aww... The answer on my card is 'dodecahedron'. Do-dec-a-hed-ron.
Well, you may have missed out on the big prize, Roo, but you certainly don't leave empty-handed; you've still got the foot-spa, the coffee perculator and 37 pounds cash! Not a bad haul. Safe journey back to Ballymena and thanks for being a smashing contestant.
Next up; we have Dominic from Castlecaufield...
Great meet last night. For the first time in ages it appears that we got through a lot of actual topics of discussion, as well as the obligatory beers. Very productive, which is more than will be said for the 8 hours I have to somehow try and get through in work today.
Highlight of the night for me was Killian's impressive array of stationery. Hopefully you can read back what you wrote :)
Cheers lads.
-Barry
It's great to finally get a secretary and some decisions and topics covered in between small talk. Looking forward to the bombardment of new posts for our man in the North.
The standard of beer at the meet ups never ceases to impress me. The 'winner' on the night was probably banjo's stout followed closely by bazza's dubbel.
There was a distinct need for more fruit though. Gareth more orange, roo more blueberries, Andy ???
The minutes! are as follows:
National Comp:
A reminder that Bazza is the drop off point, registration closes 27/01/2018 and drop off closes 31/01/2018 but if you are lucky Bazza will accept till the 3rd of Feb.
BrewCon Dublin Accommodation:
Same accommodation as last year: http://www.kinlaydublin.ie/ for 12th May
Cost to be estimated ~£35-40
To be booked asap with separate forum thread to be created also.
Club Night entry:
Belfast Homebrewer's entry to be decided based on tasting at the next meet up.
Brewday out to Hillstown
Date of March 24th still provisional.
6 people said they are attending.
Roo to create forum thread once it is confirmed to see if there are any more takers.
Quintessential Competition:
To be held in October.
Start of organize at the meet up in March.
Details to be announced in July.
Attire:
Red T-shirts seemed to be the consensus with Blazers, trilbys also rans.
Hector Bellerin would be dissapointed: http://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/11-photos-show-hector-bellerins-transformation-fashion-icon/
Next Meet:
Thur 15th of March and I will owe Roo chicken wings.
Going forward meet ups to be every 6 weeks on a wed; which would be 25th April.
Christ; that's some write-up, Killian, cheers.
Funny thing is, I snuck a peek at killian's notes at one point when he'd gone to the toilet and all I could see was page after page with the one sentence repeated: 'Kill them slowly..'
But, hey, it's the end result that matters.
-Barry
Great night and great write-up Killian.
All we needed were some chicken wings.
My choice for beer of the night was Bazza's Dubbel.
Re: fruity beers - Duke Wilhelm IV was right, way back in 1516! You obviously never got his memo.
On a personal note I got to fond out either
1. Blueberries need to double up versus raspberry (3kg into 22l isn't enough)
2. Fruit beers should be sours preferably
3. Fruit beers are a no go for some
4. Someone has rhubarb knocking about...now if that was paired with ginger.....the uncouth may be converted.
quiet_man - Thankfully the EU sent out another memo in 1986

EU? What's that when it's at home?
-Barry
"quiet_man - Thankfully the EU sent out another memo in 1986"
In my opinion, poorly contested on the grounds of Public Health, when they just should have come out with it and said "Fruchtbier ist scheiße".
It's what Duke Wilhelm would have done.
Here Kilian, Gareth, Shaun and Ruairi, youse missed out on the free pizza at the end. That was an unexpected nice touch.
Maybe the bar figured that us stuffing our faces with pizza would give them a temporary break from all the shite talk.
-Barry
Jeez, forgot about the pizza and it was lovely too.
Bazza, can you remember were it was from?

The box had a big 'Pizza' and 'Hut' written on it, so I think it was from some place called 'Hut Pizza'

Few asking after you. Some decent stouts you'd have liked. Hope to see you at the next one.

Didn't really come up in the meeting.
I had a conversation with Joseph, the head brewer, a few weeks ago and the idea came up. I'll chase him up and see what suits him.
-Barry
Cheers Baz. Would be a good day that, Joe's good craic
