Hey chaps

I was just randomly searching through gumtree yesterday and came across an advert selling these item:

2 plastic pressure barrels with lids
1 cider/wine bucket
1 beer capper
bag of beer lids
tub of vasaline
box of campden tablets
1 pressure lid with 8gm co2 injection bulb
1 hydrometer
muslin cloths
3 funnels, 2 mixing spoons
1 syphon tube (still in packaging)
sterlising tablets
glass for hydrometer
1 rubber bung for pressure barrels
1 airlock
plastic measure jug
1 bag of spray malt light 500gms
1 home brew & wine making book

also about 30 glass bottles not shown in picture & plastic crate

Tried to insert pic but cant figure out how to.

Not bad for only £50 hey.

Sounds good! Did you go for it?

BrewBilly

Hi Chris

Yea I collected it last night. It was only the barrels that caught my attention, the rest of the kit is bonus as barrels are so expensive especially with the CO2 injector.

The thought of bottling at the moment is really off putting so going to rack a batch into the pressure barrel and see how that goes, bottle small batches.

Definitely worth looking through gumtree every now and then.

And what do you do with the Vaseline?  ???

Eoin

The Vaseline is good for pressure barrel seals. It's cheaper than keg lube.

Yeah Andy - I know what you mean about bottling! Been looking at those 5L party kegs recenty.

BrewBilly

Yea vaseline is for helping with the seal of the pressure keg.

The guy I got them from used the one as an FV while racking into the pressure keg and bottles.

I have my next two brews lined up.

Its just a pity there was no wort chiller included thats the only thing I still need - I have figured its my cooling ie not cooling quick enough thats giving me the DMS type flavour.

Pic now attached

Andy I'm no handy man but I made one for less than £30. It was a piece of piss ..just got 5 or so metres of 10 ml(I think) copper and coiled it round a paint tin then delicately managed to get one end thru the inside of the coil so that both ends met up the top, a couple of jubilee clips or Q rings for 50 nupe each and a bit of garden hose that I whacked off the one in the yard and then off to B&Q for a tap connector and there I was Bob's your Uncle....sweet. its nothing pretty to look at but it gets my wort temp down in about 25 mins tops. I'll bring it along to the next meet if you wanna cast an eye over my shoddy workmanship.

Hi Roo

Good to hear from you again, been a while since that brew day. Will you be coming down for the 26th?

I have been watching you tube clips about making one, this is my next project.
