No problem hosting the new brew.  We will however just have to play it by ear for hosting an empty/fill day.

Will_D

Many thanks Colin for the offer.

We haven't even started to plan the next brew yet so ther's no rush.

Keep us informed on the "latest, newest brewer's arrival"

So lads - we need to factor in this LME / DME into the recipe.
Once I have it I'll let you know how much we have.

And also anyone fancy going point on the Boro brew day?
Do we have a date for that?

nigel_c

I think this could be a pretty good base beer we could tweak with out own ingredients and specs.

It's from a few years back. I did something similar and was very happy with it.

Will_D

Yes indeed it looks good. I was talking to James eralier about you and he putting together a recipe using the extracts that he's ordered.

We can discuss more on Sunday!

Isn't it common to boil for 90 minutes when using pilsner malt to reduce dms?
Read about it, but never had any issues with DMS.
Don't cover your pot & cool it fast to avoid it.

Just FYI, 80% of lagers in March had DMS. But, it's not a serious off flavour, even in lager. A couple of gulps and you wouldn't notice it any more.

Maybe not for Czech, but I think DMS is very common.in German lagers - Spaten comes to mind.

I also get a bit of a corn flavour off Westvleteren, more in an adjunct way than a DMS way.
