Title: Craft Beer Festival RDS
Post by: eoghanr on March 17, 2016, 12:34:53 PM
Anyone attending this over the next few days? Was there yesterday. Seems smaller than last year. Talking to a few of the Brewers there and it seems there was uproar because Guinness have a stand right inside the door! Promoting their new Open Gate Brewery.

White Hag have an amazing oatmeal stout that they run through a coffee bean 'rocket' at the tap. Most amazing thing I've ever tasted!

Loved their stand at Alltech.  Some tasty stuff.

I won some tickets so I'm hoping to call in tomorrow or before the match on Saturday, mainly going for o brother, white hag and I've heard good things about Wicklow brewing.

WIcklow Wolf pulled out because of Diageo being there, it's just full of American 18 year olds getting pissed

There is a crowd there called Wicklow Brewery. Different to Wicklow Wolf.

I imagine today will be a nightmare there but yesterday was great. Not crowded at all. And there was a great discussion held by the Irish Times with a brewer from Rascals, White Hag and Mel's.

Funny how their logo changed from:

to:

Wonder if the two are related? ;)

Spooky! where's Mulder & Scully when you need them.

Spotted that little change as well >:D. I say the background chat from the brewers about the organizer's pulling that stunt was interesting ;).

I wonder will the culprit be found. A bit childish is this sort of behaviour.

Yeh, looks nothing like Nemo at all.

Thought they stopped using Isinglass though?

Surprised there wasn't security there.

Bit daft alright.

Actually it never ceases to amaze me of the kind of stupidity that some people conjur up in their heads at times :D

I had the nitro ipa last week - not sure it was that hoppy and the nitro makes it less so, kind of tasted almost like so-so cold cask ale.

I do have sneaking regard for hop house 13. It seems to play to Diageo's agenda of making beer that can be drunk in volume even if it has some hops in it. I wonder if the clean lager base means they need less hops as well...

It is a bit childish but if the promoters weren't upfront about Diageo's presence to other breweries it is no wonder people are annoyed. Their presence annoys me because they are only there because they feel threatened/want to seem hip. If they had their way we'd be back to four beer options or less.

The graffiti appeared after hours during the brewers' lock in cleaning up time. Not too much security around at that point. I saw it being wiped off and I doubt it was up for long.

I've been there for the cleanup time and it does go for a long time. It's hard work.
