I'm thinking of buying some hops in bulk from America. Has anyone bought any from stores other than Yakima Valley Hops? If so, where? If not, how were YVH to deal with?
Cheers
watch out for costs of delivery and watch your credit card when dealing with yakima ;)
I bought from Yakima as the new harvest became available. Haven't opened any of them yet so can't say about their freshness or quality but they were delivered quickly. And I got a sticker for my kegerator. I'd use them again assuming the hops are good.
If you are using them be sure to use paypal and not your card.
Cheers for the heads up about the card. Postage isn't too bad for up to 4 pounds, but after that it doubles.
Yeah its best to get close to whatever the limit is.
I'm just raging last time I got stuff off them I didn't get spare growler lids. I need one, all my mates need them, can't find them reasonably priced here at all.
My order arrived today from Yakima. It was around €200 for 8 pounds (including Citra, mosaic, centennial, galaxy, azacca) including postage and the package avoided the customs. Looking forward to brewing with these.

Wow 8 pounds, that's a lot of hop monsters right there!
get yourself a vacuum sealer and split up the hops into smaller amounts to preserve them.
I have the Andrew James super deluxe model that I could call over to you and vac pack them up and sure an odd packet or two of them vac packs could follow me home ;)
Cheers for the offer Dempsey but I picked up an Andrew James sealer as well so I'm sorted
Are you sure,I mean you might not be fully trained in its use :D. I could train you ;)
If I get stuck I'll PM you
Folks, I'm thinking of going the same way as Big Danny.
Anyone interested in putting in an order and splitting shipping?
I've no use for 8lbs (3.6kg) of hops but I could use about 1-1.5kg.
Let me know if you are interested and we can try put together an order.
(Sorry for hijacking your thread Danny)

Up to 4 Pounds (1.6 Kg) = $33 Padded Envelope
Up to 8 Pounds (4.5 Kg) = $66 Medium Box
Up to 16 Pounds (8.1Kg) = $86 Large Box
You need to be basically filling the max to make it worthwhile.

Cheers Qs. Is your conversion a little off? I asked Uncle Google and he told me that 8lbs = 3.6kg.
Those are the units listed on the website. http://www.yakimavalleyhops.com/Articles.asp?ID=57

Copy and pasted from their site.
I worked out that it was close enough to the prices here, although some of the hard to get hops are a little cheaper here now so you may be paying a euro or two extra per 100g depending on what you buy. They've got a lot of hops you can get here though and so far I've found them very fresh.
Also worth noting they wont ship leaf, just pellets.

Thanks folks, maybe they are adding in the weight of the packaging too.
