Hi, I is there any bjcp mead judges around here? I want to know where I could do bjcp mead judge training and certification.
Thanks
There haven't been any BJCP Mead or Cider exams done here, so unless there's a BJCP Mead lurker out there, your best bet would be using the BJCP's resources.

I would guess that to do the proctored exam (as opposed to the online part 1), you will have to travel possibly to the US.
Do you know who judges mead at the nationals?

I thought mead and cider weren't in the nationals this year?

Not in the Beer Nationals; separated out this year, hope to run a Cider, Mead & Wine (fermented, rather than brewed) Comp later this year.
Do you know when that competition will be on?
Who will you get to judge the comp?
Davey from Tempted has been the head cider judge in the past and I've helped out with the mead judging with him. There is one BJCP mead judge in Ireland- Denis in Kinsale Mead Co is a Certified BJCP Mead Judge.
Must get on to Denis so!
Where can I find out more about this upcoming mead and wine competition?

It hasn't been announced yet. It'll get posted on the forums when it's ready to announce

I think its Denis Mrs that's the BJCP judge.
Any chance of inviting them up to Dublin for a short mead judging course ( say 4 hours, sensible cost to attend and we pay their expenses)?
Get them to impart the basics of meads, how to make and how to taste and assess.
Lets start a list!

That might be possible- it was tweeted from their Kinsale Mead Co twitter account. I will get in touch and confirm.

I was on to Denis, Mead Kinsale. He said that there is a master BJCP mead judge in the country whom he could not rember his name but would get back to me if he did. I think you need to be trained by a master for the cert.
Any ideas who this is?
Contact bjcp. They should be able to help you.
