Title: Plant based milk mead/wine
Post by: Ambrosia on April 17, 2019, 03:16:03 PM
Hi,
I was thinking about brewing a mead with a plant based milk (cashew or almond, or maybe coconut? Oat milk?), and mix that with honey and brew a milky mead... Would that work? Or would the oil and protein be a hinderance?
I know oat milk is quite popular for stouts, and there are lactomels using lactose as sugar, but apart from that I couldn't find much in that direction. Did anyone ever try that?

The thought of it turns my stomach.
Milk mead is called Blaand. It's not made with milk, but whey. I'm not sure how you'd turn non dairy milk into whey.
Best bet is to google Blaand.
