I have been watching a few videos on youtube from whatsbrewinguk and craigtube and i have to say i am enjoying both channels. Anyway the UK one i like because he does a lot of "ah feck it lets give it a lash" type brews,my kinda guy :o

Anyway he uses a demi john for a lot of his brews of like ribena wine etc and on top he uses this thing called an air trap. Now i have seen a bubbler with the water in action during a brew but never this air trap. What is it and does it do the same thing? Sticks it in a rubber bung on top of the glass demi john :D

Some brewers use no airlock, Just sit the lid with no holes on top
Its a matter of preference.

So basically both an airlock and a bubbler do the same job? Which is better?
