A bit of aliteration here in the title.

Its the Get'er'Brewed Slovenian hops comp.

Just starting this thread for it so I can xref it on the BJCP Comp. Site.

More details will follow shortly!
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

ZombieHoppingTime

Class! Been looking for an excuse to try all the new varieties out.

Dr Brown Ale

Has this taken place already or is it upcoming?

Jacob

Why is this called Jebb's? only coz' when I was registering comp in the USofA Jebb's (with a soft G) sprang to mind, Geb's with a hard G didn't ring true). Enough already!

So formal anouncement:
[Edit to allow hop purchase]
[Edit: No walkin entries]
[Edit: Payment, Dates and Drop Points announced]
[Edit: Judging now on Sunday 29th]

Open to any paid up member of the NHC or Beoir.

2 x 500 ml plain bottles (crown or swing top). Only one entry allowed!
Entry Fee: €5 [Attatched to a label with elastic bands!]
Prizes: TBA

The beer can be any style and may be brewed with any Malt/yeast/adjuncts but must use GeBs Slovenian hops.
Bittering hops like Magnum, Northern Brewer may be used but must be disclosed on the entry form.

The competion is now BJCP registered and you must declare the style of beer you have made (following Bjcp 2015 style guides). Beers will be judged to style. And prolly there will have to be a BOS round.

If you didn't get hops for free then you may buy the Slovenian Hops from Geb if you want to. If you got them free then you may buy more from GeB.

The hops used should be declared but this information will not be passed onto the judges.

As these hops have been provided for free then a review during and soon after brewing will be appreciated by GeB and the NHC but is not a requirement to enter the competition

Comp. Date and Location: Old Boro, Swords [Sunday 29th]

Registration opens: is now Open !
Registration Closes: Sun 8th May
Drop points: You local club will act as drop point [Note: No walk-ins on the day!]
Drop offs Close: Sun 15th May

Only people who got the free hops can enter?

Aw man.

Can you see any scenario where that stipulation would be relaxed?

No, from the post above:

"You may buy more Slovenian Hops from Geb if you want to but this should also be declared on the entry."
Fermenting: IPA, Lambic, Mead
Conditioning: Lambic, Cider, RIS, Ole Ale, Saison

Capital, we've a meet next week that I'll be at, I'll try suss it out.

I never

1. knew about the free hops offer (don't read here enough)
2. obviously didn't order any

The  stipulation is

Open to any paid up member of the NHC or Beoir who got hops from the Get'er'Brewed free hops offer.

the line you quote seems to be an addendum stating that anyone who got the free hops can buy more for the comp, but the comp is only open to people who got free hops, as per that first statement.

If it's worded incorrectly then fine, or if I'm taking it up incorrectly then fine, I'll go and order some (was planning on this anyway).

I was just making sure I don't enter and get disqualified for not getting free hops.

Ahh the ambiguities of using natural language to define things.

Will_D has the final say, but as far as I'm concerned, the only limit is the type of hops, not how they were acquired. The competition is meant to be a showcase for a new source of hops, so the more the merrier.

Can we confirm that before I order hops? Totally missed the free thing, but always keen to try new stuff.

Will_D

The idea was to thank GEB for the free hops. I see no problem with someone buying the hops to enter our comp.

I will chat with the NCB about this and get back to you as soon as possible.

Dr Brown Ale

It seems only 1 Capital Brewer got hops.
