Firstly check out http://www.brewjacket.com/immersion-homebrew-lager-without-refrigerator/

Its $300 each and 115$ delivery
I contacted him about a group buy.  Here is what he said:
For Ireland we have two options, either bulk air at $71 per unit that will arrive within a week, or sea freight, which can take upwards of a 6 weeks. We would have to arrange a pallet in that case, but I fear the economics won't make sense until the pallet is full, so roughly 25 units. Most pallets we do overseas go for approximately $800 USD. If you were to max out the pallet, we could get you down to approx $40/unit.

So roughly 370$ (~340e) by air if we get around 10 people i think is what was implied
Or 340$ we get 25 people (unlikely i think).
Accessories are available too as per site.

Nigel has an interesting thread where he made his own but as im allergic to DIY its not an option for me.

Also i presume this would be good for cold crashing the beer which im most interested in.

Stick your name down if you are in for it:

This thread should be deleted as a testament to financial sanity.

googoomuck

It looks like a robot from futurama. Little coat on it and all.

Ed

so it's a TEC with a metal stick on the end and lagging jacket?  :P

obviously there's more to it than that, but it does seem pricey for what's involved?

Just buy a larder fridge and a STC-1000  ;)

Use the other €200 or so for ingredients!

Its just a peltier cooler driving a heat pipe with a temp controller and "reee-dickkulous" shipping price!

Then there will be duty and vat on the goods PLUS the shipping!

LOGICAL Question:
I can see the point of Vat and excise duty on the goods but wtf on the postage!!?
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing
