Post by: Yenren on May 25, 2015, 08:27:13 PM

You want a 120 litre fermenter and rekon that €100 is too expensive?
Are there any typos in this question?

Can you post the link please?

How about a conical (http://www.tanks-direct.co.uk/100_litre_water_tanks/120_litre_biodiesel_tank)?

If you're not prepared to part with too much money try your local livestock mart. Chances are there'll be someone selling plastic barrels like these (http://www.donedeal.ie/otherfarming-for-sale/blue-plastic-barrels/9062281?offset=5).

What part of the country are you in?

Are they safe? I don't have a scientific answer to that by I'm sure Ciderhead will be along soon to scare the shite out of you. I'd say chance it. What's the worst that will happen? You'll see moving statues  :P

I've seen a guy selling those drums at Bandon Mart. There's also a lad selling them at Hobb's Yard in Curraheen.

This looks like it's good quality stuff. It's food safe. It's fit for purpose. If you make 100 liters of good beer it's paid for after its first batch.

4x30L will be a lot easier to lift too. I've used alpack buckets as fermenter and as grain storage and they are perfect.

Good point but I'm keen on the idea of upcycling where possible. I just acquired a 200L stainless steal jacketed milk tank I'm gona turn into a kettle, I have my sights set on an enamel bath tub for a mash tun and a 200L SS barrel for a HLT but it is in two halves and would have to be welded back together I'm not sure about that one but some thing will come along. It would be nice to bring new life to all this stuff, the fermenters are the last piece of the puzzle. I will put the build in the equipment section as more advice and ideas will be needed.
Pictures to large to attach will sort them out another day
