First AG: The Barrell beer

What a day!

In at the deep end...

My day began at 6.30am, putting finishing touches to the mashtun.

Things started well, mashed in by 8.30 with 20ish litres of water at 68deg.
I had a work related meeting at 9.00 which meant I didnt get back home untill 1pm.

so, refilled HLT and heated to 80deg. 
mistake no.1, over sparged by approx. 8litres.  This left me with 38l in the boiler which led to a 2.5hr boil.
mistake no.2, forgot to fit the hop stopper in boiler before in transfered wort

Anyways, ended up with 20l @1090 before the starter

Over all it was steep learning curve.
