LordEoin

I'm sure that we'll have multiple KPAs repeatedly and in excess.

Oh, I just noticed that I have a few bottles of 'Nettelbrau' sitting in the corner, Country beer made mostly from nettles. It is extremely odd, and I'm not sure it would be to anybody's liking, certainly not mine.
But if anyone's curious in trying this concoction, I'll bring a few.

johnrm

I've had nettle ale before.
Interesting stuff, not a session ale!

Country beer made mostly from nettles.

As in, using the nettles as the grist, rather than just as a substitute for hops?

LordEoin

It is basically made from nettles, some lemon, brown sugar and ale yeast.
The recipe I pulled specifically said not to use grain, malt or hops.
The nettles pack a flavor alright, although I'm not sure it's a flavor I'd want to aim for again.
It's not disgusting or infected or anything, just quite a strong and unusual taste and mouthfeel.
I'll bring a few for the curious. You might see a use for the flavor in something else.
Otherwise, you can always wash it down with a pint of KPA and move on! :D

mr hoppy

Sounds interesting.

I'll be bringing some weird stuff as well: the gose is still conditioning but I reckon it's like a cross between a witbier and a tequila slammer.

Dara

1) johnrm - Tux, Dishwater Stout, MYOB Mild Kit.
2) Garry - Coopers Australian PA, Coopers Wheat with Lime
3) BrewCity
4) mr happy - Some funky wheat beers (Gose, Wit, Gratzer), maybe English style pale ale as well
5) Blackbrew - Lots of Kinsale Pale Ale! (Will also bottle up some experimental  Galaxy Ale)
6) LordEoin - APA, stout. (both coopers kits, both hacked)
7) Dara - American amber (Jamil's evil twin)

Hopefully will make this one.  Would be interested in the nettle stuff - seen some guy make this on youtube and was interested to see what it would taste like. Will bring along an American amber which is based on Jamil's Evil twin recipe on BYO.  It's tasting good but the hops are begining to fade. Hopefully it will hold till the 26th (need to keep my hands off it!).

Dara
drinking - Brown porters (plain/oak aged/vanilla)
conditioning - American Amber (Jamil's evil twin)
Fermenting - air

johnrm

I might have a VERY young American Amber for the meet.

Eoghan

Hi,

I'm new here, but I would like to come along on Friday.

I can bring a couple of bottles of an IPA kit brew.
The stock are running low after holidays consumed both beer and time to brew more!

Good man. Another eoghan but not a royal like our lordeoin!

I think I met you at the expo a few weeks ago?

Is the ipa a Coopers kit?

Another newbie here (though I used to go to a few of the ICB meetups). I would like to come to this if possible, have a pale ale to bring along?

We'll overtake the Belfast gang soon?

Is your pale ale a kit or AG or what?

Excuse my ignorance, what's icb?

Garry

johnrm

You're more than welcome lads, bottles or not.

donnchadhc

Thanks!

Yep, ICB is Irish Craft Brewer.

It's All Grain, recipe is on here in the brew days.

Yes, we met at the expo while you were demonstrating a kit.
It was an excellent day all round.

The IPA that I have is a Munton's Gold 3 kg kit.
I followed the instructions to the letter, no hacks. It is my second ever batch.
