Title: mcgargles brewing
Post by: DEMPSEY on August 27, 2015, 10:30:40 PM
I am at the craft beer festival and can attest to the fantastic new range of beers they are offering. I was not a fan of their earlier offerings but now I would put them up as a brewery brewing beer that a beer fan would be proud of. Rock on their brown ale and their new American pale ale. :)

I think they've just made up for all that crap marketing with their west coast IPA. Best beer of the night.

Yeh they seemed to have brewed a lot of specials. Not sure it makes up for the others but if they could make their regular beers more like those...

The west coast IPA isn't a special. It'll be sold under the McGargles name... rumour has in 4x300 ml packs for €7.99.

They are also reviewing all their older recipes and revamping them. ;)

I wasn't a fan of the IPA. No balance to the hops. Too much grafefruit and pineapple

ooh I have to disagree, Alex the Head Brewer confidentially told me the hops involved and I found the balance good.
It was one of the top five beers for me at the event.

??? Balance? Its an IPA. All you'd want is tropical fruits! (imo)

Seriously impressive list by them. Sorry I missed it. Were many of their specials brewed on the 40hl brew kit? or mostly on the 100l kit? Some undertaking regardless. Much respect to Alex & crew!

No homebrew stall this year?

O Brothers DIPA was pretty special too. Some great specials for the event.

Oh i love me some hoppy IPAs! I just found it a bit one dimensional 😃. The freeranger from Wicklow Wolf was also not great 😞

They're doing a great job with their hoppy beers. Their black IPA was amazing too. And although green I really liked their IPA too.

I thought the WW Freeranger was pretty good as well.

I've seen it in the sampler 4 packs sold in Supervalu, but not on sale individually
