Anyone used ice cubes to get wort down to pitching temperatures? I'm thinking of chilling as much as possible using my chugger through a counterflow chiller and back to the boiler. Can usually get to ale yeast lager temperature no problem but if I was looking at maybe brewing a lager, getting below about 16c could be a problem especially when the weather gets a bit warmer. Would wrapping those ice cube bags around the silicone hosing once I can get as cold as possible get me down those few more degrees or would it be hardly worthwhile?

I have done something like this before. I filled a bucket with ice and put an immersion chiller into the bucket then I connected the immersion chiller to my counterflow chiller. I got the wort down to 12C using this method.
