Title: Ideas on how to use raspberries
Post by: molc on September 06, 2014, 09:20:04 PM
So, we have some raspberries growing in the back and I picked them this evening, giving about 500g of them, with maybe the same again coming in a few weeks.

I've popped them in the freezer, based on what I've seen will_d say about fruits and breaking down the barriers when they are frozen. The question is, what do I make? Maybe a cider with the craft range? Or combine it somehow with the Apple juice from the group buy. Alternatively some sort of raspberry ale.

Since they grow around this time every year, I'm interested in getting something I can make annually...

Answers on a postcard gentlemen... :)

You could make a gallon batch of a Lindeman's Framboise clone.
Something along the lines of this https://byo.com/stories/issue/item/1749-lindemans-lambic-clone (https://byo.com/stories/issue/item/1749-lindemans-lambic-clone)

Well now that's interesting. Would normal glass bottles be ok for keeping a lambic or is there a risk of them blowing up from pressure? Also I take it I  need to use separate equipment for the lambic part, as it'll infect anything I put in it afterwards? I.e seperate syphon, secondary and botting bucket.
