Just picked up a bottle out of curiosity in Lidl, it reads;

"Long Summer is the latest superior batch ale in the the Seasonal Collection from our award winning Smithwick's Master Brewers. It has a wonderful citrus aroma with subtle hints of caramel, green tea & tropical fruits with a crisp finish. Refreshing in taste, golden in colour, this ale is best enjoyed during warmer months and longer days."

The nose isn't really there but can pick up caramel and biscuit on the tongue. A good effort but lacking in hops and any real depth of flavour.

I saw it in Lidl but spent money elsewhere instead.

Yeah tried their pale ale a couple of weeks ago and was surprised at how hoppy it was. Amarillo hops too!

Smithwick's Pale really does venture between decent, hoppy session ale to light, lager-like blonde ale. I met the Diageo brewer who came up with the original recipe, he said they have a homebrew competition amongst the brewers and SPA came from it. He really wasn't happy with what the recipe eventually ended up as though (and he was drinking Metalman too).
