Quick question

Do grains need to be stored in an airtight container or just one with a lid to keep out the nasties.

Going to start off with BIAB and was wondering how best to store them if I buy 25kg bags.

Thanks

Shanna

Container with a lid should be ok. Personally don't store mine in an airtight container but don't think it matters either way. You probably want it to be dry (no humidity), consistent temp and dark also.

Crushed grains typically 'go slack' sooner, but a 25kg bag won't last you too long. 4kg/brew = 6 standard brews. Barely last you til October.

I just fold over the bag and make sure I use up the oldest stuff first.

Open your new bag and take a bite out of the malt. It should be hard and taste OK. Remember how it tastes and feels and compare it to the stuff at the bottom (when you get there) and see how, if at all, it's affected.
