Hi. Hope this post is in the right section. I'm looking to start all grain brewing soon. Have a Peco Boiler and am going to buy a cooler box mash tun, but I have a 37 litre Aluminium stockpot that I would like to convert to a Hot Liquor Tank. What do I need to do this? Thermometer and ball valve? Is there a conversion kit available? Thank you.

Garry

Moved to equipment.

You'll need to drill a 22mm hole in your pot. Aluminium is soft so its easy to work with. If you don't have a suitable drill bit just post up where you are. There's probably someone close to you who has a hole saw or step bit.

Then get yourself a weldless bulkhead fitting. You can screw a ball valve to the bulkhead fitting. Done  :)

You can get a weldless thermometer if you want to go all out fancy. Or, just get a digital themometer that has a probe, like this.
