Thinking of brewing up a nice hoppy wheat beer for the summer now. Anyone any thoughts on which hops would work best? Obvious choice would be Citra but would like to branch out and use something different as well.

Huell Melon? Thought about Mandarina Bavaria maybe. Not sure I would want any melon flavour though.

Hehe sorry got the two stuck together in my head. Meant Mandarina Bavaria

Have used both sorachi ace & lemondrop in wheat beers and was happy with them.

DEMPSEY

I have just used lemondrop hops and the smell is more earthy than lemon :-\. Would that be normal.

Had a Larkin's pale ale(Cascade and Lemondrop) last night and I didn't get much lemon aroma off it. Think there was a definite lemony flavour though.

Might go for Mandarina Bavaria single hop. Keeps it slightly traditional.

I've a Hopfenweisse in the pipelines and was planning on using Mandarina Bavaria and Hallertauer Blanc.

Ordered the ingredients there with Mandarina Bavaria but caved and threw in 60g of Azacca as well.

A bit too late with the suggestion but I think some Ella in a hop stand or dry hop is a nice addition with wheat.

I've never really been overly impressed by Ella. Are there any beers out at the minute that showcase it well?

Keg

I think the 8 degrees Amber Ella is a good version.  I wouldn't use it during the boil as it gives different qualities then.  I use in in a trio with Citra and El dorado and it works well.

I'm not mad on Amber Ella. I know it gets good reviews all the time but I feel like it's lacking a bit of punch. I must try it again though cause it's been a few years since I've had it.
