The "South Dublin Brewers" will be conducting their next tasting meet on Thursday 20th in the Dark Horse, Blackrock. Details below...

Location
The Dark Horse, Blackrock, Co. Dublin

Date
Thursday 20th Feb

Time
8pm

Protocol

  • You don't have to have any beer to bring in order to participate! Inexperienced brewers are more than welcome. Even if you're only thinking about brewing your own, come along  - our friendly crowd will answer any questions you might have.
  • If you have some brews for tasting, please bring along 500ml of each.
  • To show some thanks to our hosts for allowing us to drink homebrewed beers in their pub, it is customary to buy some drinks from the house. The Dark Horse boasts an extensive range of craft beers and also has an excellent off-license.
  • Please sign-up below if you'd like to attend - that way you will be notified of any cancellations or other changes.

01. Bubbles (American amber ale, robust porter)
02. Maroon Irish Ale & American Stout
03. Belgian Tripel (keg vs bottle conditioned) and ESB or maybe Düsseldorf Alt beer if deemed ready.

With the Belgian Tripel the refermentation for bottle conditioning seems to have cleaned up some solventy flavours that are still present in the gas bottle carbonated keg and provides an interesting comparison.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

I still have all the yeast slurry (about 500 mL) from an APA which I racked last Saturday. The yeast is WLP001 California Ale. I'm doing another APA tomorrow which will use about 1/3 of this but if anybody is interested I can bring one or two portions along on Thursday (not washed but stored in sanitised containers).

Cheers,
Bruce

Hi Bruce

Would happily take that off your hands if you would bring some along please.

Hi All,
Just thought I'd mention that I used gelatin to clarify this brew so it's not strictly suitable for vegetarians.

Bubbles

Will be a bit of a flying visit for me this evening lads, but I'll see you all around 8 as usual.
