Just wondering if it's worth spending a few shillings on a decent tap or would a picnic tap do the job. Thanks

Ian83

Damn auto correct. Meant Cornelius keg. Haha

There was me feelin sorry for your poor keg all on it's own!

I'd spend once, go for something with flow control, will save you a world of pain unless your spot on with carbonation. a longish beer line (1.5/1.8m) will also help.

picnic taps are grand for portable set up's, not so good for long term.

Amen!

Haha. Suppose I'll have to invest in a few more kegs to combat the loneliness. Thanks a mill for the advice. Was thinking the picnic ones don't look too durable either

I'm using a picnic tap on a couple of kegs in the shed.

Pros: It's cheap. It works okay.

Cons: There is a bit of faffing about with the gas. I have to turn off the gas and maybe vent a bit from the keg as well. Then I have to give the keg a dash of gas to make up for what I've lost.

Overall it's not a big fuss, I've been doing it for nearly a year now. It's not a big bother. That said, I'll be getting  three flow control taps in time.
