Cheers for the recipe and congrats. Out of interest, where do you buy your malts?
Thanks, I buy from homebrewcompany.ie
Bestmalz Pale malt
Weyermann specialty malts
organic Oats from Aldi
If it's not a secret what's mash and fermentation temperature's?
No secrets here , I did a step mash starting at 50 degree ramped up to 69 deg and then mash out at 75. Fermentation temp was18 degrees for a week then droped to 12 degree. Hope this helps
Thanks, I have bought everything to try this as my next brew.
Out of interest, how many other beers did this beat to win gold?
I don't have the numbers but the Stout category is one of the more popular categories (probably third after Pales and IPAs) so I'd say it'd be a lot
Like more than 100?
I think there were only 250ish entries last year. I'd say more like 20-30

Just so you know, this beer won 3rd in the BOS in 2017. I brewed this with the original brewer and it was lovely.
Damn so it beat a couple of hundred beers ?
