Title: WHC Bubblegum for a quad?
Post by: BeermanB) on March 11, 2021, 04:04:02 PM
Just bought a vial of this and am planning to use it in a quad. I can't find much info online of others using it and was wondering has anyone else on here had any experience? How strong is the bubblegum flavour? I know its similar to Wyeast 3522

I used this in a quad last year. OG was 1080, I pitched a starter at 20° and held it there for 2 days then switched off temp control and let it rise, it went up to 23 °. I was very happy with it, there was bubblegum there all right, but it wasn't too pronounced, got pear esters too.

I used it to make a dubbel. I fermented at 20 degrees but was a bit disappointed with the result as I wanted more bubblegum and banana. So if you want a stronger flavour you may have to ferment at a higher temperature.

I bought a vial and pitched it into a wheat beer first, then a Belgian dark strong. Incredible yeast, and I'll be using it again! Yum.
