Ok here is a recipe for the Flanders Red. I'd like to get the barrel filled in 3-4weeks time so let me know how this time frame suits everyone. It gives everyone time to get ingredients or suggest changes.

2.38kg Pilsner
2.38kg Vienna
227g wheat malt
450g Munich
227g Aromatic
227g CaraMunich
227g Special B
23g 5% EKG

I'd like to get a few packs of Roselare Yeast ( qty 4) so may ask for a little donation if we split it between everyone contributing.

Closer to brewday and refill, individuals can start fermentation with neutral yeast. I'll add the culture in the barrel

Let me know what you all think so we can plan

I just put an  order in today!! If anyone is ordering can they order me Vienna and I'll give them the dollar

eanna

How many litres is that recipe for/ what's the target OG?

I'm fine with the 3/4 week date.

Are we delivering to yours Rodger?

Dodge

Sorry batch size for 20l

OG was 1.067
FG was 1.013
Mash was @ 68C
Boil was 90 min

I can collect from Lucan Area on the way home from work but we can work things out

Dodge

Will and CH there is no issue with you wanting to contribute.

We'd like to keep it to 20l each if the both of you want to join, just post here. If your batch size has to be bigger then again let us know.

We are at 160l so this would bring us up to 200l

Thanks Dodge,

I know John and myself are just happy to help!
We will brew if needed!

I have been involved with many a whiskey barrel fill and know for a fact that:

Barrel Size: 220 litres (for example)

Brewers: Commit to 10 x 22 litres.

Result: You willl be short about 20 litres or more!
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

Mr Dodge I was only offering to help you across the line and LS and others look like they are happy to do a bit extra so happy to contribute or step aside what ever works.

Dodge

Thanks guys!

Ok so if everyone on the list can confirm the amount they want to brew please. We will give it over the weekend for all to confirm and then we can see how much we are short.

After that Will and John can be informed

Hmmmm I don't even have the small fermenters to be fucking around with small batches to be honest.

It'd also mean souring some stuff at home......

Yeah. Stick a carboy/plastic drum under the stairs. Nothing complicated about it.

eanna

I'd like to put 25l in (and get 25 out  ;) ) but I'll be pragmatic and go with 20l as I have a drum that can be sealed for transport.

I'll probably take you up on the collection offer Dodge, thanks.
