Black Malt,            4.7%
Crystal 60L,          4.7%
Chocolate Malt,     4.7%

Columbus/Tomahawk/Zeus first wort 17.8% IBU
East Kent Goldings boil 10 minutes      5.0%IBU

IBU's need to be massively increased to about 90

Also, what ABV are we going for? About 9.5%?

OG 1.100
FG 1.022
96 IBU (84@FW + 12@10)
ABV 10.5%

The numbers on Brian's post are AA% for the hops. He didn't post the gravities and IBUs.
Remember to allow for much lower efficiencies with a high gravity brew like this guys. ~60% wouldn't be an unreasonable estimate if you dont have an idea already.
Should have what you need there now.  :)

Is anyone planning to use the second runnings?

Mother of god, why is there such a big gap between the two barrels. I have an image in my head if the top one getting loose and going for a roll:)
Fermenting: IPA, Lambic, Mead
Conditioning: Lambic, Cider, RIS, Ole Ale, Saison
On Tap: IPA, Helles, Best Bitter

I WAS TOLD TO LEAVE A GAP TO ALLOW ACCESS TO THE BOTTOM BARREL :D :D. Big heads in the liffey brewers :P

No reason for it to move unless we are on a ship. :D

Fair point. Still not a chance you'd get me anywhere under there while working in the bottom barrel :) I'd be paranoid I'd knock against the support arm.

My first impression also especially as your also going to be reaching for the top barrel. Not to question the carpenter but will that rig handle the extra 200 kg of liquid going in to the barrel Not to mention the 400+ kilos on the bottom set of staves. I would consider bracing it with a few diagonal pieces of wood. Belt and braces should the order of the day. I would also consider some thicker pieces of wood. Would be a travesty to have 400 litres of beer go for the want of some extra wood, not to mention the risk to life and limb of 200+ kg barrel l falling on someone.

Gee thanks lads your interest in my welfare is touching :). When the time comes to fill them we are removing them to empty the whisky than put them back up and then putting a extra brace on them. :)

Glad to hear your on board for staying safe :) First impression was on seeing the photo was accident waiting to happen. Hope the beer generates as much interest!!! 2nd look at the photo and it's lethal as the top staves are balancing the top barrel on the bottom one. Time to go back to the drawing board and put them both at ground level.
