Split mash ? Thats also for a 60% efficiency..so your own set up might need less.

Fill date for both barrels is set for 10th September.

To keep things simple on the day it would be best to bring young beer in a cornie. We want to minimise O2 pickup.

We all ready to brew this week? There is 160l in this list by the way - what's the barrel capacity?

imark

Think the larger barrel was 135L from memory. Smaller closer to 125L.
I was planning on brewing midweek.

delzep

I'm brewing on Wednesday or Thursday

imark

Any thoughts on the water profile for the porter? Do you thinkwe need to replicate you're soft South Dublin water?

DEMPSEY

Soft water if you are not steeping the dark malts.

I intend to add all my malt to the mash.

I'm going to go for this:
Calcium (ppm) 61
Magnesium (ppm) 3
Sodium (ppm) 8
Sulfate (ppm) 25
Chloride (ppm) 62
Bicarbonate (ppm) 85

target pH 5.3

Any thoughts?

My porter brew is done and fermenting thanks to delzep saving the day with some EKG.

When is the fill date for the wee heavy? Are we still planning on the 10th?
