Hi Folks,
Sat in on Brendans pres last week in Sweetmans. (Great re-intro Brendan, thanks!)
Going mad to get started and what better day for brewing than Good Friday!!  ;)

Firstly may take a trip out to Lagan road to Mottly Brew (are you open today to supply a starter kit, Ian?)

Thanks,
Damien

CB_Phil

welcome to yhe forum
they had a thread up yesterday saying they were open alright

Thanks Phil,
Headed up on the off chance and Ian was there so I've proceeded to get stuck into my first kit  -Coopers Good Friday IPA. All seemed to go ok took notes where I need to sort out for next time and I was Breaking Bad on the sanitation...
So I've 20 odd litres of something in a few weeks!!!

So things I've learned already:
1. spray malt solidifies when added to hot water - does not help dissolve !!
2. Weighing scales are not bloody sensitive enough
3. Bring wife to shop....come home with an elderflower cider kit I didn't plan on..!!

Thanks Shanna,
I will be away this Thursday unfortunately, but will definitely make the next meet. That way I may be able to bring something with me too, get some pointers on where I may have gone wrong.
Cheers

Welcome to the site.

Have a look at the wines and cider forum lots of good info there.

BTW: lesson #3 Is probalbly the single MOST importnt thing for a home brewer:

Keep your partner onboard!
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

Cheers Will_D wife is becoming beer sensitive too, which is good news keeps me mainstream instead of chasing the American hop bombs I crave...!!! Coopers Good Friday Pale Ale is carbonating, after 7days still flat so I agitated slightly and made sure tops were on tight (Coopers PET) hoping for better results next week...
Next is Bulldog dbl IPA, get to experiment dry hopping with a kit....
