International Brewing Awards extends deadline to 18 January

The International Brewing Awards has extended its closing date to 18 January, giving brewers and cider makers extra time to enter the competition.

Judging for the 2013 competition will be held from 13th-15th February in Burton-upon-Trent.

Beers and ciders will be judged by a panel of 33 currently practising brewers, drawn from most continents and from a broad spectrum of the brewing world. A separate panel of specialist cider judges is also being assembled.

Brewing Technology Services director Ruth Evans said: "We're delighted with the entries received to date, which truly represent the global brewing industry in terms of diversity of style and geographical spread. Beers have been submitted from more than 40 countries.

"We have re-introduced cider to the competition this year, after a break of several decades, and also added a new Special Hop Beer class. As these are new to the competition, clearly brewers and cider makers are less aware of them, so we are extending the closing date and hope this enables more to enter."

Entry to The International Brewing Awards costs £150 (plus UK VAT) per beer or cider and is free of any duty charges. Forms can be downloaded from the website www.brewingawards.org .
