This August sees the inaugural Wee/Royal Inter-County Competition.
We're kicking this competitive legacy off with a fruit addition challenge.
All BJCP 2015 styles will be accepted as long as fruit has been added to the mash, boil, primary, secondary..........whatever.
The closing date for entries to be registered is 13th August.
All entries to be collected by Club Reps soon after the 13th.
The competition will be held on Sat 27th August.
Location: Brú Brewery, Trim, Co. Meath
There will be prizes for best beer and Club with the best average score. All prizes have been generously donated by Loughran Family Malts, The Mottly Brew and The Homebrew Company.
Limit: 2 beers per person.
Cost €5 per entry.
Open to All Full Members of National Homebrew Club who have sworn blood allegiance to either Wee County Brewers or Royal County Brewers.
Please Enter Here (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/19lgosO4zu8DzZGYsLub055IIR_t5v9hZRGM-QfUKcg0/viewform)
This competition is BJCP registered.
Our kind neighbours in North County Brewers have volunteered to judge on the day.
Great work on the poster! Looking forward to Throwing down! (Hopefully not my beer down the sink)
Not long to go now lads and lassies, Bru have thrown in a great prize.
The winning beer overall, will be brewed on their 300 Litre Pilot Plant, and sold exclusively in their pubs.
Who wouldn't want to win that!!!
Looking good. So if I stand on my roof I can see out past Rush & Lusk. Does that make me eligible to enter? ;)
We might have to look into a grandparent clause!
No they were more capital brewers actually.

Only if you brew shit beer
Guys, I really think you need to explian this clause:
"Open to All Full Members of National Homebrew Club who have sworn blood allegiance to ether Wee County Brewers or Royal County Brewers."
Si is it open to anyone whou favours either of the two countys!
So it could be: Grandparents, My dog is from Louth, I drove through Meath last year and really liked it!!
You have to have attended at least 2 meetings of either group. Exceptions will be made for anyone who can say staaaa baaaaaa in a Navan or Drogheda accent
I shifted a girl from Navan when I was staying with my cousins up there about 20 years ago. Can I enter? ;D
Depends, was she good looking?
Clubs need more tony Cascarinos. Specially printed Meath passports!

No, but your navan offspring that you don't know about yet can
At this rate i think anybody who went to Mosney will be a Royal County Brewer :P
Well, Mosney is in the Wee County electoral area i think so... you know... they could chose either - dual citizenship.
Have you got judges organised?

We have an agreement from NCB that we'll get judges. We're probably looking at about 15-20 beers, so we only need a few. That said, if you want to come along ...........
Yes we would be up for it, Brendan defo. We here in Brú Pub in Newbridge just talking to Darragh about the day. If you don't need us we might just pop along to say hello if ok :)

I'd say 4 judges max. I will ask the NCBers who wants in, many thanks for the offer of help - I will let you know soon.
Will
Well I am afraid to say the response so far from the NCB is Zero.
I will be available to judge and it would be great if Bren and Kellie can also. We just need one more judge.
Also 1 steward and the organiser (who knows what beers are what) are needed.
Cheers
Will
Brendan can judge but not me as I will be driving over and back. I can steward no problem :)
So you need 2 more judges :)

I have just realised that this competition is on Saturday 27th August. I thought it was Saturday 13th August! We are unfortunately not available as we have already committed to go on the Beoir camping weekend!
I am so sorry, I read the initial thread wrong!
Cheers Kellie
Not to worry, we'll figure something out. Any other potential judges out there fancy a day trip?
Judging crisis has been averted.
Anyone who fancies a spin out to visit Bru, can you please let us know here so we can confirm numbers with them in advance.
Thanks

Entries so far have included:
Cherries
Passion fruit
Grapefruit

We can now add peach & ginger and red grapefruit to the list.
Don't forget to register by Saturday. Fantastic prizes on the line, you have to be in it to win it!
Dan,
As mentioned, I have Kiwit wheat beer

We're currently at 17 entries ahead of Saturday's competition. There's a veritable fruit bowl of beer to be had! The registration date for entries has passed, but in reality if anyone wants to enter at this stage and is willing to bring their beer on the day or get it to their rep beforehand, work away.
Just a quick reminder of the prizes on offer.......
Best Beer will win a brew day with Brú, a 25kg bag of malt and 100g of citra courtesy of Motley Brew and a €50 voucher from The Homebrew Company.
Runner-up will get a 100g bag of citra from Motley Brew and a €50 voucher from The Homebrew Company.
The club with the best average score will get a 25kg bag of malt from Loughrans, to be divvied up or used for a club brew.

Looks like some really interesting beers. Enjoy the day.
A great day had by all! A big thanks to Brú for hosting, Thehomebrewcompany, Loughrans and Motley Brew for ponying up prizes, our four very dedicated judges and also Irish Beersnob for helping bring the whole thing together.
Wee County's Colm took the gold with his amazing Orange IPA and I was lucky enough to come away with silver for my mango pale ale.
Royal County beat us to the best average score, well done lads we'll be gunning for you next year!
On a side note, huge congratulations to Crónán and Niall for taking gold and silver in Capital's Speciality IPA category, Colm for getting bronze in the American IPA category and Crónán again for getting BOS silver. As Acott said on Whatsapp "A great day for the parish"!(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160828/60dbcd3fa049d5c98b9684369a29cd32.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160828/010833558bee58f61b7fa1adfca21d92.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160828/263bdfd600897ed281df26f5c1266908.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160828/f41fd423fa4107b8fae9724e63129d15.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160828/df091b1dc5c950c6d2a4c668d8908450.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160828/4c15424ec510e413d67fd5c56d438a24.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160828/d6f458b232a4f187fd811a70e9506e04.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160828/36cf5d6fa510ff49516e7d4695df14db.jpg)(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160828/a53abfbeca72ef98ce480932c1a74b5c.jpg)
Someone's getting the sack over that masking tape!
Thanks to Dan and Wayne and everyone else who helped organise it, it was a great day - well done to the winners too...
Gutted I missed it but the family had to come first that weekend. Where would I get a hold of the score card for an entry?
I won't be able to get to a scanner until Tuesday, but I'll mail them to you after that.
Oh that's great, thanks a lot helmet
Super job Dan and Wayne on organising the whole day and weeks prior. It was a super day out and fair play to Darragh from Brú for hosting us and showing us some stainless porn in the brewery. I'm looking forward to next year already to the 'inverted hop schedule brewing comp' :P

Will do Will, just need to scan the judges' registration forms tomorrow and I'll get all the info to you.
Ha, we get to pick the style this time round guys!
Though well done to all that entered, was good to get Impartial feedback on the beer we made, and it confirmed some of my own thoughts too. Have a year to improve for next time round. Congrats to the winners, and our low numbers definitely helped us with the overall average.
Also extended my gratitude to Daire, and Kevin from Bru for helping out and hosting us, and Rodney in The Malthouse for the post comp pints. I'm sure yis all made use of that great little off licence in there. To Sean from Jack Cody, and John (The Beernut) who also helped out with the judging. Thank you all for coming, and glad yous had a good day.
