Got this cheaply off eBay. It's a tea strainer but SS with small holes. I'm going to place it at the bottom of my keggle, drill a hole for my dip tube (thanks il tubo) and SS hose clip the dip tube above the strainer to keep it in place. The strainer is about 5cm in height & 6cm diameter.
Is this solution too small and will it get swamped by debris too easily?

Have you got a link? That thing looks cool O0

I take it that it is sitting upside down in the picture and there is no lid to close it. Sitting it like this you will have a problem of keeping it fixed to the floor of the Kettle during the boil. At 50mm high and 60mm diameter it should do a reasonably good job of holding back the hops as you drain the kettle.  :)

@Dempsey
Yes. It's a tea strainer upside down. I've posted a picture with a mock up. The dip tube will be a rigid structure from the keg wall. I plan to push the hop strainer tight to the keg floor and hose clamp it in place. The hose clamp should use the rigid strength of the dip tube to keep the keg floor & strainer seal tight. Hope this explains things.
