Ok folks

I have added a new 'Style Type', thats Wine.

35-A : Wine - General
Please provide as much information as possible to ensure your Wine is judged fairly.
750 bottles only please

Please note - PLEASE provide as much information as possible to ensure your entry is judged fairly (did I mention that ??)

Best of luck !

James

Just to let entrants know there will be special attention given to these entries from a special crate to the way they will be handled and served on the day so as you would expect reds will be served at room temp and whites chilled.
Thanks to Partridge for sorting this additional cat on the entry system.
As I have said already on lots of posts please put a full descriptive to help judges score your entry.

Most importantly please indicate if its "Kit" or "Country" or "Other"

Kit: Made from commercial wine kits. Please specify colour and anything else

Country: Made predominantly from the hedgerow or the back garden. Basic style would be helpful like a "White Pea Pod Chardonnay"or a full bodied "Ruby Red Beetrot Snuggler".

"Other" a catch all for any thing else like Port/Sherry/Vermouth. Just tell us what it is supposed to be like
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

You lucky NCBers! I'd love to taste these concoctions!

Hmm do you want to state whether it's a kit or not as we don't with beer or cider kits in case of negative judge perception from the outset?

Sounds like bubbles wants to be asked to judge the wines ;) :D ;)
Wife says to me one day... "so do you love beer more than me?....
Naturally, I replied,...... making it or drinking it??😱😱

My point about kit or country is actually quite subtle:

Beer is brewed by many processes ranging from AG , thro' extract, passing by hacked kits to the simple kit and Kilo
The cost to the brewer:
Ag cheapest, ... Hacked Kit prolly most expensive

Now we come to wine making:

Country Wines: €10 for sugar per 5 gallons - the rest is free from hedge/garden!

Wine kits: Start at about €25 for a 5g kit and need 4 kilos of sugar and then rise all the way up to about €90 for about 12 kgs of almost pure 50% reduced grape juice from real grapes (no need for sugar).

Do you see my point?

Pay enough for a kit and have even half a brain you should win the wine class!

Most definitely not!

I entered my kit wine there but i'm just wondering if its one per category as it won't allow me to enter my country wine.  It says that i've reached my limit

Will_D

I'm afraid this would happen!

There is no 1 cat limit for wines, just be sensible

@James; Can we sort this?
Remember: The Nationals are just round the corner - time to get brewing

Partridge9

No worries,  sort it after work today,  lads just so you know, the 2015 guidelines completely wiped the old styles, that's why this has to be Re done. On the plus side, won't need to be done for next year
