Mikkeller Beer Mail - June 2018.

Here's June's selection. It looks like NEIPAs, IPAs and the return of some Porters which look good to me. Though I am kind of surprised by the Porters in a Summer mail out. Also included this month is  a patch and the promise of a branded beer glass arriving in the future. Listing son the different ratings sites are from super high (98 for two beer son ratebeer) to mediocre enough, which I guess is a normal range for a month. I always like to see some 500ml servings and it's nice to get another brewer's beer in too.

Description: According to the Mikkeller this was ordered for the mail out while the beer was still in the tank at the brewers so it should be super fresh.

Description: Part  of a series where the names come from Danish sayings. This roughly translates as "take a moment to think about it before you jump into conclusions, decisions etc".

Mikkeller Beer Mail - July 2018.

Here's July's selection. Billed as some classic easy drinking styles for the Summer barbecue. I always like to see stuff from other breweries and 500ml sizes so I'm happy. Another high rated beer from Ebeltoft Gårdbryggeri who had the Hop Power in last month's mail.

Ratings this month are; 3 beers in the 90s, one 80, two 70s and some unrated. Some of the links to ratings sites might not match exactly, it's not always clear if the beer is a new version of an existing brew or not. Where I'm a bit confused I link to the existing rating and note the possible discrepancy. 

The Beer Mail glass mentioned last month is now [sort of] promised for next month so that's something to look forward to.

Mikkeller Beer Mail - August 2018.

Here's August's selection, a bunch of ready to drink in the sun beers. Some low in alcohol but thery're the Ich bin ein Berliner Weisse beers which I think are super.
The beer glass previously mentioned is previewed in this month's video but due to supposedly just arriving in the warehouse it won't make it out to subscribers until September.

This month I also went in for the pricier 'upgraded' Beer Club as well as the Beer Mail. I'll put another thread on the forum about that. Mikkeller Beer Mail - September 2018.


Here's September's selection. I've never added up the retail value of the Beer Mails - they're not all stocked in Ireland and sometimes not all the stock would ba available from the Mikkelller webshop, but I've often thought about working it out. So  it's nice that Frank does it this month - he gives the delievery a 480DKK value which translates as just a touch over €65. For a delvery that costs 350DKK including delivery that seems like really good value.

Exclusive beers are always a nice touch, and I'm happy to be receiving a 65cl bottle too. I'm kinda hoping I get on of the Beer Geek Breakfast ones but would be happy either way. Ratings wise the heavy hitters this month are Stateside, Beer Geek Breakfast and Ny Verden. You'll only get two outta three but sure Meatloaf could live with that.

Mikkeller Beer Mail - October 2018.

Here's October's selection. The days are getting shorter and this month includes two imperial stouts for you to sip on during the long nights. Everythings in pairs this month; to go with the imperial stouts are two spontaneous beers, two Pilsners (1 double / Imperial), 2 hop heavy brews (a DIPA and NEIPA) and an American Pale Ale to round things off.

Average abv this month is 7.74%. Top ratings this month with 8 of the 9 beers scoring over 80% in Ratebeer and 5 at 95% or over. Two of the beers also appear in the much pricier Mikkeller Beer Club this month.

Description: The Autumn / Winter edition of Mikkellers ongoing Pale Ale series. This edition is hopped with citra and equinox, and the malt is a mix of Pale Ale and amber malts. Perfect for tacos they say.

Mikkeller Beer Mail - November 2018.

Here's November's selection. It includes a couple that we've had previously (the Rielsing and Deception), 3 x 500ml cans which is nice and a mix of styles.  Ratings wise we have 3 beers at 75 or over, including one at 93 on Ratebeer.
After last months stouts I was kinda hoping for more of the same but it's a good box. Interested and looking forward to seeing what they do for December!

Description: Who knew that rick Astley was still a thing? Who knew that he was mates with Mikkeller? Not their first collaboration this was brewed to mark the opening of a Mikkeller bar in London in Oct 2018. I had it with a curry and thought it was decent, but not something I'd be hunting down again in the future.

Description: There's a Vesterbro IPA, red ale, Pilsner, bock and so on. I have no idea if there's an intended theme behind the Vesterbro series - maybe they're just named after the location of the Mikeller bar or the neighbourhood it's in. The beers themselves are all pretty decent examples of the named style.
Anyway this brown ale fits that description - it's malty, with caramel and bready notes.

Mikkeller Beer Mail - December 2018.

Here's December's selection. Nice to get the a heavy rich stout at this time of year. There are also two Pilsners, two festive beers, the return of a personal favourite (Rospusta), a DIPA, gose and a pale ale.  Interesting that in promo interviews for one of those Pilsners (Mastodon) Mikkel again restated that Pils is currently his favourite style. There are 5 large cans here which is more volume than usual.
Ratings wise things are the usual mix, there's one 100 and two more beers in the 90s. A few of them haven't made their way to RateBeer yet and some of them don't rank so well.
Not a bad way to finish the year.

Mikkeller Beer Mail - February 2019.

Here's February's selection.  A nice box this month, two Spontan's which I always like and some highly rated beers.
On Ratebeer we have four beers scoring 90+ and another two in the 80s. Not bad.

This month's box also included a glass. Unlike previous ones this hold's a 330 measure which I appreciate. I might give the missus a taste of the odd beer but mostly they're for me!

Description: Mikkeller's annual lambic, brewed with sour cherries from the Frederiksdal estate and aged in Oak barrels. This year's beer was brewed with the fruit from 2018's sunny Summer and the bottle got an upgrade too, with a cork and cage replacing the usual cap.

Mikkeller Beer Mail - April 2019.

Here's Aprils's selection. To my mind it's a great box this month. Some beer geek classics, and a nice range of other Mikkeller brews. The free glass is 200ml which is a little meh but the Bean Geek chocolate is a (teeny) tasty extra.

Four of the beers this month also appear in this month's pricier Beer Club (Taedonggang, Beek Geek Cocoa, Sundried Saison and Viking Kolsch) and the Spontanplum was in it a month or two ago.
Mikkeller claim that the box conents would have a total retail value of 555 DKK shipping which is about €74 compared to the subscription cost of 320DKK (about €43).

Mikkeller Beer Mail - May 2019.

Here's May's selection. It's MBCC month so you could expect a can of that. Nice that it's 10 beers this month.

A whopping five of the ten beers this month also appear in the much pricier cheaper Beer Club, which is the most I've ever seen.

Description: A Berlinner-Style weisse brewed with Kalamansi, a citrus from the Phillippines.

Mikkeller Beer Mail - July 2019.

Here's July's selection.

It's another great month for the Beer Mail. I feel like it's been really good for the last few months.
There's a nice range of beers in this box, it includes 3 guest beers;  2 from Ebeltoft Gårdbryggeri and 1 from To Øl. There's also a spread of IPAs, pilsners and the Covfefe Imperial Stout which I really enjoyed.

Ratings wise there are 5 beers which score over 90 on RateBeer which has to be a good thing.

The hop burn high / hop burn low combination is a really cool idea, basically where they've brewed two beers with the same malt and grain bills but with different yeast. I havne't had a chance to try them yet myself but I'm looking forward to it.

Description: VIPP is a Danish store / company which started off selling pedal bins in the 1930s. Also in the Beer Club this month.

Description: A DIPA engineered ot give a bit of hop burn. Made with a top fermenting yeast (like all ales) it has the same ingredients a s the hop burn low lager - except for the yeast obviously. It's got a bitter, malt flavour, crisp, dry and resinous.
