Overall pretty impressed. Staff have no idea what they are doing yet but they will learn. Food was decent and I would get it again. Can't go wrong with €3.50 for a bottle of goose island ipa.

Meself, ciaran, ronan, john and bruce decamped to the dark horse an hour ago and we're still here! We were all in need of some proper hops. "Table" ftw..

Brilliant night lads, thanks to Ciaran and Brian for making the trip down to us.

What can I say - after three visits to spoons now, I'm actually a little bored with it... I like the cask offerings, especially the Ghost Ship, but the kegged beers are uninspiring and the ciders are, well...fucking dreadful...

I'm conscious of appearing like some sort of Galway Bay fanboy, but it was a joy to decamp to the Dark Horse to sample some sparky, interesting beers.

Great night, but overall I'm disappointed with the Three Tun Tavern :(

Agree with shane about the cheap goose island though...! :)

Andrew

Strange- everyone I know who've been there have ended up going to the Dark Horse after a while. I wonder if that has anything to do the 'spoons feel that the Three Tun has (and the fucking awful dinner plates).

Didn't anyone try the Sixpoint Bengal Tiger? Miles better than the Goose Island IPA...

Thanks for having us down lads, enjoyed the evening.

I think the Three Tun stands up very well when compared to your generic Irish pub - better food, considerably cheaper and much better beer. It will never be a replacement for your specialist craft beer bar though.

did not get to try the six point we left before i got to them but i'll be back out tomorrow for round 2

really like the ghost ship.  ordering stuff feels a bit disjointed but that should improve as they get more experence, dont think they are allowed do two things at once cause its always payment first then drink.  had one guy walk to the end of the bar bring back my change then walk all the way back down again and pour the beer.  can see that being a real pain when they are busy.

i look forward to seeing them move into the city

Big fan of the Bengali tiger and Sweet Action though I hate saying it out loud in public!!! Got the "have you been to wether spoons before..." mantra but I ignored it and myself and 3 mates spent the night at the bar much to the staffs disapproval! They tried to be crafty but they ended up ordering Heineken after about 3rounds while I did a tour of the taps...! Didn't make it to Dark a Horse but did spend the wee hours playing pool in a wicked wolf with mcgargles the only horse in the race.

Ended up bring the family for Sunday lunch all were v. Impressed with the food and beer selection. Overall I approve and I hear the 40Foot in Dun Laoghaire is next...
