Can I borrow a hydrometer from someone around the city centre?

No worries. I have a dedicated little plastic box where I store stuff like that because I used to lose and break them so often. Surely someone has the nous to design a set of indestructible measuring instruments for homebrewers fitted with GPS transmitters.

I beleive the hydrometer in the Coopers DIY Beer Starter kit is made from plastic; I remember seeing craig tube or another guy whack it off a table with no damage.
No GPS though
