Found a new use for a fermenting fridge. I got 3 lobsters from a local fisherman yesterday and needed to keep them alive for a day or so. I filled a 33l bucket with sea water and put it in my big fermenting fridge (luckily just vacated by a pale ale). Set the temp to 10c and stuck in the aeration stone for a few minutes. Instant holding tank, dark too, happy lobsters! I am guessing 10c is about right for this?
I hope they don't get too fond of it cos they are going in the pot soon.

@ Shiny -  Add that to the "sell it to the missus" list!

If you're putting them in the pot, I'd lower the temps further. Then 2 hours before putting them in the pot stick them in the deep freeze, straight from deep freeze to pot and you're unlikely to hear them scream when they cook :) It's considered the humane method of dispatch. They don't freeze, but they get pretty close and go into a coma.

What Beer are you going to have with your lobster?
