Title: Dry hopping with fresh hops
Post by: Rathbaner on September 27, 2021, 02:00:51 PM
I have a load of Challenger hops ready for harvest and 20l on the go in a fermenter.

I'm tempted to dump the beer onto the hops for a few days and see what happens.

What could possibly go wrong? Right?

Has anyone done this or have any relevant advice?

I think you multiply by 6 to calculate the match to pellet weight.

For anyone interested in this, I racked off 20l of fermented beer onto ±1kg of fresh picked Challenger hops and left it for 60 hours/ two and a half days.
I just cracked open a bottle which had been conditioning for the past six days and it has a wonderful pronounced but gentle hop aroma.

Would recommend.

Sounds nice. Good to see you did not leave it stew for too long as the current thinking from Yakima Hops is to say "less is more" when it comes to dry hopping.
