Title: storing hops/grain
Post by: shweeney on October 16, 2014, 01:02:27 PM
I've bought a couple of HBC's extract kits as a step up from kit brewing.

I'm planning to split them in half and do ~12L batches - what's the best way of storing the leftover hops & grain once I've opened the packet?  I assume the grain just needs to go into an airtight container, but should the hops be frozen? (they're leaf hops I think).

Freezing your hops is best, preferably in an airtight bag with all the air pushed out, so that the hops are not exposed. Having said that, I normally keep open bags in the fridge, with little ill-effects. Though I do go through the hops pretty quickly.
