For those who sampled the Pale Ale Stout I had at the Liffey Brewers meet on Thursday (and indeed for anyone else who is interested), here's the recipe.

Coopers Irish Stout & Aussie Pale Ale kits and 500g Extra Light Spray Malt in on top of 2 litres of warm water.

Filled to the 20 litre mark.

And in with both kit yeasts.

OG was 1066, FG 1020 giving an ABV of I think ~6.5%..

Left it for 37 days fermenting purely out of laziness, was probably fine to bottle after two weeks.

For anyone who sampled it the other night, it had been bottled on the 4th October.

Does the Pale Ale kit help with head retention at all?
The irish stout kit isn't great for head retention, but the pale ale kit is.

Sadly, no.

The pale ale stout looks like a stout, has the body of a stout and the poor head retention of the Cooper's Irish stout kit with the taste of a PA.
