Hop Madness! - South Dublin Tasting #2 - Tuesday 7th May

Lads, I'm suggesting Thursday 2nd May for the next South Dublin tasting. 6 weeks should give everyone an opportunity to get another brew on.

Could I suggest we go with a theme this time? Everyone should have plenty of hops in stock from the US/Aus 2012 harvest so how about restricting beers to single-hopped brews? Is that a bit restrictive? It would be a great opportunity to compare the different hop varieties and particularly useful for any less experienced brewers.

Naturally, the style can be anything as long as it's a hop-forward beer - pale ales, ambers, brown ales, black IPA, Belgians, hop forward porters etc.

I'll suggest the Dark Horse as the venue again as people seemed very happy with the location, but if anyone has any alternatives in mind, just shout.

I can't make Thursdays, pretty much ever. Possibly in July but otherwise that is it. Is it  Thursday you are thinking of from now on?

No not at all Rossa. I was conscious of the last meet unintentionally clashing with the Beoir meet so I wanted to play it safe this time and avoid Wednesday. Though now that I think of it, I think irish_goat mentioned that the Beoir meets were on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.

If Mon/Tue/Wed suits people better we'll change the day/date no probs. Jimmy/Shiny would either of you object to a change in date? How about Tue 7th instead?

I was actually thinking wednesday suits me better because I often go for a pint with another crew of a thursday.

And yes - beoir meets are every third wednesday. But I dont think anyone on our list really attends them - could be wrong

7th is ok with me. After a little recipe modification my beer will be single hop, if its ready.

Ok lads, as most people have responded positively to Tue 7th, we'll settle on that date for the next tasting. Andrew, sorry the date doesn't suit, but if your plans change, please do come along.
