Ah sure, just bring along whatever you have dude. I want to taste some of the world famous JimmyBrau.

I bottled up an American Brown last night as it happens, hopped to feck with Amarillo.

John_C

1. Paddy Bubbles - Amarillo Brown Ale
2. JimmyM - Not sure yet, ill have to get a brew on
3. Shiny - East India Porter
4. Andrewl46 - Celebration clone
5. JohnC - Fuggles Mild
6. Shanna- Kent Goldings Cream stout.

A correction from me. My mild was made with Fuggles, not Goldings.

That's allowed. ;)

Looking forward to tasting it!

Shanna

Surely you must have something with diacetyl in it that we can use to compare notes!!  :P

Paddy,  ;) can I pay you for my share of the barrel at the tasting?

By the way how much is the payment. How many people are owners of the barrel.

If the other barrel I'm in on is anything to go by its around €7 each approx.

At the end of it all I still see the barrel as being property of the person storing it so if you want to use it as firewood or a garden planter you wont have any objections from me.

Good question! We'll have to wait a get our signups finalised, before we can determine that.

I quite agree, though I'd love to see a second brew going into it. A barleywine perhaps? Or we could go Belgian and spike the barrel with Brett and other such funkies.

Shanna

Hi there,

As the barrel can take a 2nd beer I would hope that we can go and use it to the maximum. However as we will have between 4-6 months to figure this out (or however long we decide to age the first barrel) it should not be a problem. I was thinking that when this eventually goes to the great big cooperage in the sky to cut the barrel down the middle both from the top and the middle. This would produce four decorative planters for my garden(will buy a sheet of cheap ply and stick that on the back of the fourth of the barrel). With an old style carpenters plane I see no reason in the world why the entire inside of the barrel can't have a good shave to remove as much usable oak shavings as possible. The shavings could be shared out among the buyers of the barrel. The planters I am going to insist on keeping as it how I am keeping my wife on side while this rest in the shed (darling imagine how this barrel will look when it is filled with flowers).

Shanna.

Absolutely, I think it would be a shame to only get one use out of the barrel.

I like your thinking with the oak shavings.

Can you confirm this is still on for tomorrow night. What time do you meet up roughly?
Looking forward to meeting up - I'll bring a bottle along for tasting - it is single hop although not a style intended to showcase that hop.

Brewtus
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
