Dub in Lux

LordEoin,

Sorry, in my noobness I was mixing up fermenting and priming sugars.

Mac2K,

My attic seems to be at 20-21 degrees celsius any time I take a temp reading. Just checked it now, and it's 20c. Just checked in on the bucket and I suspect what you have suggested may be happening. The crausen appears to have dissipated somewhat. I broke my hydrometer the morning I was leaving, so will be the weekend until I can get a reading. If I need to bumb temp up to 22c, what are my options? Wine-warming plate or move it downstairs?

thanks

Jonnycheech

20-21 degrees is plenty hot. It's probably at the upper end the recommended temp for ale yeast, depending on type, and you'll have some fruity esters at this temp. I like to start my ales at 18 and raise to 20, never have any attenuation issues.

Agreed,

I tend to do the same.  My muntons connoisseurs ipa bitter kit wanted the upper range.  I started it at 19c like my coopers kits. I did add DME.  Brew Enhancer might make a difference.  Mine stalled after 6 days at 19c.  I though it was finished, but SG was 1.022.  Eventually finished at 1.011.
