Finally got a response on this:

"Any style is allowed with only one entry per brewer.  The competition will be judged to BJCP standards.  There is no registration fee.  The drop off point is outlined in the application form."

T&Cs from the entry form:

Terms & conditions: This competition is open to all amateur home brewers over 18 years old. All
entries must be received at McHugh's Bar, 78 Parnell Street, Ennis, Co. Clare by October 6 th 2017. All
entries must be handcrafted using ingredients available to the general public using private equipment
by hobbyist brewers (i.e. no use of commercial facilities or supplies). The organisers accept no
responsibility for entries not received by post by the entry deadline or entries that arrive damaged.
Each brewer is limited to one entry. Each entrant will be judged using the BJCP score sheet. The
judging committee will select finalists to take part in final judging in McHugh's Bar on Friday, October
13 2017. Each entrant must submit 6 x 330ml or 4 x 500ml bottle samples. Bottles will not be
returned to entrants. The competition committee's decision is final.
