Sorry to dig up an old thread lads, really trying to fix my water for the next brew.

Thanks to the GH / KH test kit I was able to work out the Calcium and Magnesium in my water.
Looking at the councils water profile I can pick up the rest of the numbers.

One question, they have them listed as mg/l in the councils report, is this the same as ppm? or is there an equation I need to convert mg/l to ppm?

If it is the same, then my water profile looks like this :

Calcium : 60.0
Magnesium : 15.6
Sodium : 10.4
Chloride : 21.8
Sulphate : 43.9
Alkalinity : 89.0

Make sure you pay attention to Dr. Jacoby (Peter Dudley)'s talk on Sat in BrewCon, he'll be going through what this means and how it effects your brewing & beers and what to do with it.

Yeah really looking forward to his talk!

My beer is suffering from astringency and I believe it's to do with Mash PH, hoping to fix it with some mineral additions but need to get my head around what each addition can do to the flavour.
