Hey, i used Irish moss in my last kit, have to say its cleared up lovely in the keg but it has killed the head, so what says ye clarity vs beer head (if i just said head there'd be no contest!).
Ive bottle this for the comp, ist lovely cascade ale but think i'll be slaughtered on the head retention.

AFIK: Irish Moss is Carageean ( apologies for spelling if wrong ).

This is a seaweed -delicious to eat raw or dried when fresh - I believe the stuff sold in the tubs is an extract!

So what the F**k is Will talking about?

Seaweed is a slippery slimmy substance because it contains Alginates.

Gues who uses Alginates for head retention?

Yep, you've guessed it the best head man in the worlg is called Aurthur, last name begins with G!

So I don't think IM would kill your head

Yep, you've guessed it, the best and biggest beer head in the world and is made by a bloke called Aurthur, last name begins with G!

This is why G does NOT meet the Rheinheitsgebout laws!

So I don't think IM would kill your head

I've not heard of Irish Moss or Whirlfloc reducing the head.
If it did, it probably wouldn't be so widely used.

I'd say that the problem might be more to do with the other ingredients.
What kit was it? What did you add? Did you use a lot of sugar? etc

Personally, I just leave the FV a week longer for the yeast to clean up after itself and drop out.
Otherwise if you want it extra clear, lager it. We have the perfect weather for lagering. Brrr.... :'(

Regardless, it will clear up in the bottle.
A bit of yeast at the bottom won't harm you.
I tell SWMBO it's probiotic, like having an actimel every day..  ;D

Ps: caraageen moss is great in a hot lemon drink to help fight colds and flu!
